Boltons Clive Myrie award for long television news service

A BOLTON-born news presenter has been recognised for his long service to television journalism.

Clive Myrie, 57, was handed an ‘RTS Fellowship Award’ by the Royal Television Society in an award ceremony on Wednesday night.

This was for ‘an outstanding contribution to television’, with Clive's career in journalism spanning over thirty years, first appearing on BBC Radio Bristol in the 1980s before becoming the BBC's foreign correspondent in 1996 and regularly hosting BBC ‘s News At Six and News At Ten programmes since 2010.

Clive grew up near Burnden Park in Manchester Road, Bolton, attending Hayward Grammar School (now ESSA Academy) and touring with the Bolton Youth Orchestra.

Earlier this year Clive won the 'Network Presenter of the Year' and ‘Network Presenter of the Year’ for his 'versatile, measured and compelling style' at the RTS Television Journalism Awards.

Mr Myrie is currently the presenter of quiz show Mastermind.
